NEW - Race Equality and Cultural Awareness Event
Available as a Half Day Workshop or One Day event
Aim:
This workshop is designed to help increase participants’ confidence and understanding around meeting existing race equality legislation and better appreciating cross cultural issues.
The training is presented with strong reference to the workplace environment, and includes both practical tips and case studies pertinent to the roles of the attendees.
Objectives:
- Re-visit the key points of the legislation (Race Relations Act 1976, RRAA 2000)
- An overview of the significance of cultural differences and an introduction to specific cultures (with particular reference to religion, belief, worship, dress, food , family, given names etc)
- Discuss issues which are likely to have the potential to arise in your organisation, as well as what could constitute inappropriate behaviour.
- Consider practical responses to the situations highlighted above.
- Reflect on the importance of inclusive language and vocabulary.
- Participants will have an increased confidence gained through raised awareness and a “toolkit “ of practical tips and ideas.

- Being Aware of Difference i.e. Sleep, Hygiene, Clothes and Accessories, Food and Drink, Dietary Customs, Work and Education, Social Activities, Language and Communication, Religion and Belief.

- Inclusive Language.
- Personal Action Plan.
- Workshop Evaluation and Close.
